The Process For Rendering Ambient Occlusion with Scanline Renderer in 3DS Max is as follows :
Step 01 :
So lets start this is my scene for this tutorial.a plane,box,sphere,and a teapot.
Step 02 :
Press “M” on keyboard to open up material editor. Now select 1st material slot and change Diffuse color to white and assign this material to all object in scene(CTRL+A to select all object in scene and assign material).
Step 03 :
Now create a Skylight. To create a Skylight Go in Create menu / Lights / Standard Lights / Skylight.
Step 04 :
In Skylight enable Cast Shadows option.
Step 05 :
Now hit render (Press F9 or Press shift+Q).It will take long time to render.So now its time to enable Light tracer For fast rendering and much more control for shadows, samples,light bounces etc.
Step 06 :
Press F10 to open render setting dialog box and click on Advanced Lighting.
Step 07 :
In Advance lighting select Light Tracer.
Step 08 :
When you select Light Tracer in Advanced Lighting.Light Tracer settings are available .Here you can control all kinds of Light settings like Light Bounces,Multiplier,rays/sample etc.
Step 09 :
Now hit Render(Ambient Occlusion Pass will render).
