In this 3ds Max tutorial, I am going to show you how to matte object with vray in 3ds max.i have a simple scene just a plane and a box.if we set Renderer to vray and render we see a normal render plan and box . But now i want to cut matte (matte object) the box from my alpha channel and final image.so here few simple step to do this.
The Process For Matte Object With vray in 3ds Max is as follows :
So here is a simple 3ds max scene setup for this cut matte in vray(Matte Object) 3ds Max tutorial. In this scene i create a simple plan (100,100) and rename this plan to ground plan and also create a box (15,15,15) .
Now go in render setting (press F10 on keyboard) and set renderer to vray.
After setting renderer to vray just render the scene ( Press F9 )and your render is look like image below. full render box and plan and alpha is Solid .
Now here i want box to be a invisible and hole in matte. For this we have to Select the box right click and go in V-Ray properties of box. ( right click on box > choose Object properties ).
In V-Ray properties ,Go in Matte Properties and chek on the Matte Object and set Alpha Contribution value to ” -1″
- Alpha Contribution value 0 = invisible to camera but not cut matte in alpha(not matte object – full alpha)
- Alpha Contribution value -1 = invisible to camera and cut matte in alpha( matte object – no alpha)
After setting up Alpha Contribution value to ” -1″ now close the V-Ray object properties dialog box.
Render the scene (Press F9 on keyboard).now you can see box is invisible in render and if you check Alpha Box turn into a matte object (Cut matte – no alpha).
